Epidendrum ciliare

Epidendrum ciliare

My friend has such amazing plants. Another gorgeous specimen is Epidendrum ciliare

This medium to large sized epiphytic and sometimes litophytic species comes from south America where it is found growing up till 1000 m altitude high on wet mountain trees.
Epidendrum ciliare

It's a semi-shade orchid, that, when on vegetative state it has a much more Cattleya look than other Epidendrum. Normally, the thicker the orchid roots are and the more succulant leaves and pseudobulbs it has, the more careful whe need to be with watering.

Medium should be allowed to dry between watering. Flowering now, it has green and white flowers with a light scent at night time.
